Veyo Pool Playtime

Friday - Adventure time for Team Petty and Team Harris!  Picnic lunches and a New and Different Discovery for all.  The Mineral Pools of Veyo.  It's located17 miles outside of St. George - headed toward Pine Valley.  Two moms and five boys ready to explore!

Carter, not loving the water so much

Sadly, about 15-20 minutes after being there, Kade hit his chin on the side of the pool when jumping in.  And it was a deep slice, thus needing emergency care.  Quickly we dressed and plucked kids from the pool.  My two children were fairly vocal about not being ready to leave.  Holly dropped us all off, luckily we had picnics all packed and ready!! She rushed Kade to Urgent Care.  The older boys played some Skylanders - and Ben was actually pretty happy to have Nathan all to himself for a play date.

Kade endured 5 stitches and, I have to say, was pretty calm and controlled about the whole thing at the time of the injury!  (I got queasy just looking at it...yuck.)

TAKE 2:
Not to be dissuaded, Team Petty (including our fearless father figure) returned to Veyo Pools on Sunday.
(However, NQ's Shark trunks, that didn't make it home on Friday, were not there. Bummer.)

The kids played in the crawdad creek. And played with crawdads, and saw little fishies. And threw rocks.

I did not get the picture of how we arrived at the pool - by way of old, lopsided, plank bare, creepy, Indiana Jones - like bridge over the creek.  Next Time I will control my fear and take a photo!

We also saw the zip line in use up over the pool!  Very cool.

Nathan found kids to play with right away, and nary looked at us for much of the day -just at lunch time - and then back at it!
The Bug that scared all the female workers in the front office. Consider the fact that it is sitting on a 4X4 post.

Add picnic food, sunscreen and (Because the smell was impossible to ignore) a very price gouging hamburger w/ fries for $8 (split four ways), and you have the makings for a very enjoyable family day!!
